New Age Internet MLM (the lazy way) - Part 4 : MLM

Factor #2: Automatic Lead Generation + Follow-Up

The most time-consuming part of any business is in the process of collecting leads and following up with them.

In off-line marketing, you are forced to do this manually (e.g., returning phone calls, meeting one-on-one, etc.) It’s a lot to manage and you’re forced to make your presentation over and over again.

This is all a thing of the past when you set up your own web site and e-mail opt-in list. You see, there’s this magical tool called an "autoresponder" that can collect leads directly from your web site, and then follow-up with them by e-mail automatically.

If you’re already familiar with autoresponders, you can skip ahead a few paragraphs. If this is totally new to you, though, read on...

Have you ever sent an e-mail to someone and, in a few minutes, received back one of those: "I am currently out of the office" type replies? You can tell right away that the recipient didn’t type this e-mail to you personally. It’s a pre-written message they created before "stepping out of the office" and they set their e-mail account to send this "auto-reply" to every one who sends e-mail to that address.

This is an autoresponder at its most basic.

The type of autoresponder services available today (and these are the kind you’ll want to use) are far more advanced and can be used to manage full-fledged mailing lists.

I recommend you check out Aweber.com, as it’s a prime example of the type of advanced autoresponder we’re talking about here.

What can you do with an autoresponder?

Well, as the name suggests, your autoresponder will play a starring role in automating most of your business. Your autoresponder will handle the subscription requests from visitors who want to opt-in to your e-mail list. It will also manage your follow-up e-mails.

Huh? 31.95% DON'T know what a "Squeeze Page" is?

How To Get Rich Building A Lazy Downline

The Perfect Funded Proposal

7 Secrets To Building A Productive Downline

How To Get Rich In Any MLM Program

Recently, James Grandstaff revealed something that I found quite interesting...

If you've been around the IM (Internet marketing) scene for awhile, you've most likely heard the term "squeeze page" before, right?

At least that's what I thought.

Well, James surveyed approx. 500 people on his list who are interested in making money online. Many stated they were interested in affiliate marketing, product creation, MLM, etc...

One of the questions was "Do you know what a "Squeeze Page" is?"

68.05% answered yes and 31.95% answered NO.

To be honest...

I was shocked that 31.95% said no.

What about you?

In light of this shocking survey data I decided to write this post today to go over the very basics of what a squeeze page is and why you should be using them in your business (if you are not already.)

And for those of you who already use them, pay attention. You will probably learn something too.

Here goes...

A squeeze page which is also known as a "lead capture page" or "name squeeze page" is a simple web page with one purpose; to get your visitor to give you their name and email address so you can follow-up with them. That's it.

One of the best ways to get someone to opt-in to your squeeze page is by offering something of high perceived value such as a mini ecourse or a highly targeted eBook.

For example, let's say you are promoting a multi- level marketing bussiness opportunity. The products are great and you are a raving fan.

Most people would just start promoting the website the company supplies. I say no. This is a perfect opportunity to implement the use of a squeeze page and offer something of value first.

That way, you collect the leads, you follow-up with an introduction of yourself and begin building a long lasting business relationship.

In sales, what we are really selling is "us" first, then the product.

You always want to provide value first. Once your prospects warm up to you, then it's time to ask the right questions to determine if your product or business opportunity can help solve their needs.

If you'd like to see a high quality, high converting squeeze page that James has put together, you can visit the link below.

It's important to read the "thank you" page on the other side you can get an idea of how the whole process works.

New Age Internet MLM (the lazy way) - Part 3 : MLM

Example #2: Targeted Market Hideouts

Another way of finding prospects is to hunt them down at their on-line hideouts. This means finding ways to advertise on highly targeted web sites. Typically, you’ll want to search for forums, bulletin boards or groups dedicated to your target market.

For example, if you wanted to target prospects for a music-related MLM opportunity, you could go to several types of forums:

º A general business opportunity or MLM forum.

º Most any kind of music-related forum, depending on the nature of the MLM product.

Here’s something off the top of my head, but let’s say you’re in a MLM business that sells guitar strings. The best place to go would be forums centered on the subject of guitars or guitar players.

You’d first join the forum and fill out your profile. You’ll have a spot in your profile where you can type in what’s known as a "signature file". Signature files can include most anything favorite quotes, links to other sites and, yes, even advertising.

These signature files are appended to the bottom of every post you make. This is where you’d put your advertisement. You might have something like this:

"You know you’ve gotta buy new strings anyways...
so, why not make some money selling them, too?"
www.Your-Squeeze-Page.com

That’s it! You don’t have to pitch the program directly. In fact, you’ll want to avoid doing so. The best way to get people interested in clicking on your advertisement is by participating in the forum as a regular member. Talk about your favorite guitar players, or help someone learn how to play the Blues.

Of course, you aren’t limited just to forums. In a strong market, you’ll find plenty of content-focused web sites with opportunities for text-link and banner advertising.

The overall point I want you to take away from this is that you have an almost endless supply of leads available to you on-line, and just as many creative ways of luring those leads to your web site, and onto your list.

New Age Internet MLM (the lazy way) - Part 2 : MLM

Example #1: Targeted Search

You already know what you do when you want to find something on-line, you go to your favorite search engine, and type in a few words to describe your search, right?

Maybe you’re considering buying a new vacuum cleaner, and you want to read some reviews before you make a decision. You would go to Google or Yahoo and type in something like: "top ten vacuum review" or "Hoover upright vacuum reviews" - whatever fits. Well, your prospects are doing the exact same thing.

Every day people are searching on terms which may indicate an interest in the products you’re selling via MLM. Not only that, but every day there are people searching for "MLM opportunities" and "the best MLM programs." These people are potential recruits for your downline.

One of the best ways to reach them is by running advertisements relevant to those searches. You can do this with what’s known as "pay-per-click" advertising. Most of the major search engines offer this type of advertising opportunity.

What pay-per-click allows you to do is have an advertisement, similar to a "mini-classified" ad, show up alongside the search results for a specific key word or key phrase.

Let’s say the phrase used is "multi-level marketing." Now, if your site is highly relevant to the prospect i.e., your site matches what he had in mind when he searched for multi-level marketing, then he’s more than likely to take action on the offer you’ve placed in front of him. This is what targeting is all about...

Right Offer + Right Person = Desired Action

For your MLM program, the action you want the visitor to take is to join your opt-in mailing list by submitting his name and e-mail address, so you can follow up with him.

The type of web page used for this is called a "squeeze page" or "landing page." Landing pages are dedicated to one purpose: getting the visitor to opt-in to your list, and become a lead.

If you aren’t familiar with how landing pages are structured, don’t worry. We’ll talk about that further on in the eBook, and I’ll show you a screen shot from a real, live squueze page.

New Age Internet MLM (the lazy way) - Part 1 : MLM

What is this "new age" lazy way of Internet MLM? Why is it so much better than marketing off-line?

Quite simply, Internet MLM beats off-line marketing because of this one, easy formula:

® Better Targeting + Automatic (Lead Generation + Follow-Up) = LEVERAGE

To understand how this equation adds up, let’s take a detailed look at each factor. Pay close attention, as every piece of this formula is important!

Factor #1: Better Targeting

Lead generation is easier, and cheaper on-line. No longer do you have to go cold-calling for prospects. Instead, they come to you.

The ability to generate targeted leads is crucial regardless of what type of business you’re in. It doesn’t matter how good your offer is, nor how persuasive your copy writing, if you don’t have it in front of the right people.

One great thing about the Internet is that your leads qualify themselves for you. You just have to know where and how to position your business within the marketplace. This positioning is done by stepping in your prospect’s shoes, and imagining the steps they might take to find you on-line.

I know, that sounds easier said than done, so let me give you some examples of how this works...

Traditional Offline MLM (the hard way) - Part 3 : MLM

Old School Method #3 ® Investing All of Your Time in One MLM

By now, you understand why it’s virtually impossible not to spend all of your time building one MLM business when you’re working it off-line. The problem with this is that time = money. You’re basically putting a cap on how much income you can earn. Yet again, this is because off-line sales and recruitment takes up so much time and effort, you don’t have anything left in the day for other ventures.

If you did, though, you could be doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling your income by building your downlines in multiple programs. But getting to that level would require some serious automation of your business. You’d need to hire employees, or find some way to...

º Make sales in your sleep.

º Recruit new downline members without having to meet them in person, call them on the phone, etc.

º Train you entire downline without having to be in the same room with them.

In other words, you’d need a way to put 95% of your business on cruise control. And you CAN do it

... if you’re ready to throw away the old, and bring in the NEW, lazy way of Internet-based MLM.

Traditional Offline MLM (the hard way) - Part 2 : MLM

Old School Method #2 ® Attempting to Recruit Friends, Family and Strangers

I could almost repeat everything from above here, but I want to put a finer point on the concept.

Off-line recruitment, just like off-line selling, yields too few returns in comparison to the effort invested. You will never build the large, profit-cranking downline of your dreams if you try to recruit all of your members off-line.

Why?

Again, targeting becomes an immediate issue. However, it is not the only obstacle in your path. You will also face a considerable amount of time and work when it comes to educating, training and motivating each new member of your downline.

Remember: your income from any MLM is directly proportional to the size and performance of your downline. You need more than just a dozen people working under you. In fact, you need more along the lines of several hundred. You need as many as you can get...

How are you going to build this kind of downline in between holding down a regular job, spending time with friends, taking the kids to school, pursuing your hobbies, etc?

There’s just no way to pull it off unless you’re super-human.

I know what you might think, though: "What about those people who make a living throwing Tupper-Ware parties? What about the Mary Kay cosmetics ladies who drive the big, pink Cadillacs?"

Ok, I’ll grant you that. There are certain rare individuals who succeed in MLM and who build their businesses the old-fashioned, off-line way.

BUT, most of them had to work like dogs to get to that level. They scrimped and saved in the beginning. They took huge risks and made even bigger investments.

In other words, they did things the hard way, and that’s not what this book is about. Plus, I can promise you that more and more of those people are using the Internet as a part of their overall strategy.

Traditional Offline MLM (the hard way) - Part 1 : MLM

I would like to put a few things into perspective here before I introduce this new system. The more you understand the limitations of traditional, off-line MLM, the more excited you’ll be about Internet-based MLM.

Traditional MLM means doing things THE HARD WAY!

No joke. Once you compare and contrast the off-line versus on-line methods, you will never do things the old school way again.

So, let’s look at these ancient, off-line methods and discuss why they just don’t cut it if you want real success from your MLM program.

Old School Method #1 ® Selling to Friends, Family and Strangers

It’s a funny concept, isn’t it? You or your friend, spouse, neighbor, etc... have joined a MLM opportunity, but don’t have the first idea how to generate leads or sales.
Soon, people start referring to you as "that crazy MLM guy or gal."

"Crazy MLM gal" goes around trying to sell the product to anyone who will listen - sometimes even alienating friends and others who just don’t want to hear about it or deal with the pressure.

The sad part in all of this is that those efforts are largely wasted! All of that gusto, determination and energy gets spent on un-targeted and unresponsive prospects.

Trying to work a MLM business off-line is like casting a huge net into the ocean when all you want is a basket full of catfish. If you’re lucky, you might get 1 catfish out of the net while tossing a whole lot of crabs back into the water. In order to fill your basket, what you really need is a fishing pole, some good bait and a lake full of catfish.

The bottom line is this: if you’ve got an entrepreneurial spirit, then you must focus that burning desire into targeted lead generation.

AND... stop trying to generate sales prospects off-line!

I don’t care if someone told you to use business cards, newspaper ads, bumper stickers or free seminars to promote your MLM. Even if you get a few truly targeted leads, it is still too much effort!

These methods represent time and money wasted when compared to the results you could be getting on the Internet - in less time, and for way less money.

What is MLM? Part 3 : MLM

You might wonder how the company itself makes any money when there are all these people taking a portion of the sale. The first thing to realize is that a multi-level network (in this example) does not overlap beyond five levels. In other words, your upline will not earn a commission from a sale made by someone in the 5th level of your downline.

Also, notice that if you add up all of those percentages, you don’t reach 100%. This holds true no matter which level the sale is made on. The company will earn a minimum 13% profit, even when paying out commissions to all 5 levels.

Now, let’s take a look at what an average day’s sales could bring you if you were to build your downline all the way to the 5th level. We’ll pretend that the product the company is selling has a retail cost of $100.

If you made 1 direct referral ($50), 10 sales on the 2nd level (10x$20=$200), 5 sales on the 3rd level (5x$10=$50), 5 sales on the 4th level (5x$5=$25) and 3 sales on the 5th level (3x$2=$6) then you would earn:

50 + $200 + 50 + 25 + 6 = $331 total commissions

Not bad for a day’s work, right? The size and depth of your downline has a cumulative effect on your income, and this is why MLM programs can be so profitable when you understand how to work them. The key word here is how.

It is not simply a matter of referring as many people as possible. One of THE single, biggest mistakes made by MLM newbies is recruiting un-targeted and unmotivated downline members.

In order to succeed, you must learn how to:

º Target the right market for the product.

º Target the right opportunity-seekers for the business opportunity, and get them into your downline.

º Train and motivate your downline to do these same two things as well as you do! That’s how you get the big pay days in MLM.

In the remainder of this eBook, you’re going to discover how to accomplish all of this with less effort than you ever imagined.

What is MLM? - Part 2 : MLM

Now, joining a program late in the game and being further down in the structure does not mean you can’t make any money, or any good money. There should be plenty of opportunity for you if the company is selling a legitimate product that people want and need.

That said, one of the things you should look for in any MLM opportunity you’re considering, is a product which can be sold to people outside of the network. In other words, you should be able to make some profit simply by retaining non-affiliated customers, as opposed to requiring your downline to buy the products.

Let’s quickly go over how people make money from MLM...

People make money from MLM opportunities by selling products and services. The big money comes from the multi-level structure, and from building your downline.

If you are at all familiar with affiliate marketing, then you can think of MLM as "affiliate marketing on steroids." Whenever you refer a paying customer, you get paid a commission based on the price of that product. Your commission might be a flat fee, or it might be a certain percentage of the sale.

Now, as you build your downline, they will also be referring new customers. Each time a member of your downline makes a sale, you earn another commission. This commission is smaller than what you’d make from a direct referral, but the impact is cumulative.

To better show you how this works, let’s take use the example of a multi-level program with a network going only five levels deep.

Your commission structure might look like this:

- Direct Referral: 50% of sale

- 2nd Level: 20% of sale

- 3rd Level: 10% of sale

- 4th Level: 5% of sale

- 5th Level: 2% of sale

Notice that your levels are filled out by your immediate downline building their downline, which builds another downline, and so on until all 5 levels are filled.

What is MLM? - Part 1 : MLM

MLM (also known as "Multi-level-marketing" or "Network Marketing") represents a unique approach to marketing products and services to consumers.

The core idea behind any MLM company is to implement the use of independent representatives to refer customers to the company. Any purchase made by a customer results in the payment of a commission to the referring representative.

In essence, the representative can create his or her own business without needing to create a product for sale. He or she can also grow and increase their business by recruiting new representatives into the business.

It’s important to note that real MLM opportunities are NOT pyramid schemes!

Many people confuse the two because of the recruitment and referral aspects are common between each. However, in a pyramid scheme, things are set up so that only the person at the top (the originator of the scheme) gets paid. In a MLM opportunity, any and everyone who refers a customer gets paid.

Let’s go ahead and look deeper at how MLM really works... I think you’ll see why multi-level structures can be fair and profitable for all.

I want to provide you now with a better explanation of what "multi-level" means. It really has to do with the commission structure available to independent reps. In any MLM opportunity, you will find the organization split into two groups: the upline and the downline.

Your "upline" consists of the people above you in the network. Whoever recruits you into the network is a part of your upline, as are the people above him or her. However, the person who introduced you to the business is typically more accessible and often serves as your mentor who trains you on how to work the program. Essentially, you are a part of your mentor’s downline. Furthermore, the people you recruit into the MLM opportunity will be members of your downline.

You might be thinking, "I can just find a program and join it without being referred by anyone, then I’ll be at the top!" This, however, is not the case. The absolute, top-tier of any MLM company’s upline consists of the owners/founders, along with the first outsiders they brought in to the network. So, while it is possible to be very high up the chain, you have to get in on the ground floor while the company is still in its infancy.

10 Steps To MLM Success : MLM

Multi-level marketing is a great way to make money for those who don?t want to make any money. So for those of you smart enough to get in on a ground floor opportunity that?s been around since the serpent conned Eve into signing on the dotted line, here are some pointers.

First, be your own best customer. This will make your up line extremely proud (and a bit richer). Dumping all your cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and cosmetics in the trash and replacing them with overpriced concentrate is a sure sign of financial genius What?s more, it?s important to believe in your product.

Second, make a list of everyone you want to annoy. This includes friends, family, coworkers and everyone in the white pages from the three closest cities. You?ll earn a tiny commission off each one you enroll and that, my friend, is worth risking a lifetime of friendships. (Who knows? One of ?em may be the next big fish for the company. And you?ll be the one who caught ?im!)

Third, systematically annoy everyone on your list. Invite them out to dinner. They won?t mind being deceived into dining with a room full of brainwashed goofballs while some slickster shoots his power point presentation on a screen in the front of the room. The numbers don?t lie. If you enroll eight people this week and they enroll eight people next week who enroll eight people the following week, in eleven short weeks all 6.4 billion inhabitants of the earth will be in your down line including an extra 2 billion from some unknown galaxy.

Fourth, act giddy. Phony enthusiasm is a proven sales gimmick, especially when coupled with idiotic product testimonials. Say something stupid like, ?I cut my arm off a year ago and took some of these here vitamins. And whaddaya know?! My arm grew back. Hairs and all.? Everyone in the room will cheer.

Fifth, emphasize the success potential by pointing out the vast number of gullible people who are dumb enough to think they are all destined to be pyramid millionaires. This strategy really works. After all, it worked on you!

Sixth, appeal to greed and rank laziness. ?Be your own boss,? is a nice phrase. Ask your friends if they would like to quit their jobs and work part time for a six-figure income. (Don?t tell them that four of the six digits are to the right of the decimal.)

Seventh, use powerful terminology to impress your prospects. Never use words like ?multi-level marketing? because someone may get the idea that your multi-level marketing scheme is a multi-level marketing scheme. ?Direct to the consumer? sounds a lot better.

Eighth, project the image of success by buying the most expensive car on the market. Getting in debt up to your glassy eyeballs is a tried-and-proven financial strategy. It will pay off. Someday. Remember, if you want to be rich, you gotta start acting the part. Think of the wealthiest people you know (except maybe Howard Hughes) and start living like them. There?s nothing like gross irresponsibility to get you on the right track.

Ninth, tell your prospects about the unseen benefits of owning their own business. Just think of all the stuff they can deduct from their income taxes, like one eighth of their bedroom if they use the corner for a home-office. Yes sir, you can pave your road to riches by wasting long hours for a tiny tax deduction.

Tenth, stay motivated by wasting; excuse me, ?investing? an obscene amount of money in motivational tapes and CDs. Someday, when you hit the big time, you too can screw your down line out off thousands of dollars.

MLM or pyramid scheme - What is the difference? : MLM

Many people question the ethics of MLM. They claim that the people on the top get all the benefit from the people working below them, while the people below don't get much if anything at all. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Think about where you work. Isn't it true that the boss is raking in the big bucks out of the money YOU are making for the company? And if there is cutbacks who is the first to go? Definitely not the boss and probably not his bonus.

With an honest MLM, you can easily make more than the boss if you put the effort into it. He gets a little bit from your sales, but you get the lion's share.

But isn't this just a big 'pyramid scheme'? Yes and no. Anyone who works a conventional job is in a pyramid scheme. Every company, army, and government in the world is built on the pyramid concept. However, with multilevel marketing, you aren't held back by the people above you like you are in a conventional job.

With an MLM, you can build your business as large and as profitable as you want it to be.
So, what is a Pyramid scheme?

These illegal scams involve a large number of people at the bottom of the pyramid, all of them paying money to a few people at the top. Each new participant pays for the chance to advance to the top and profit from cash paid by others who join down the line. Pyramids resemble a legal MLM in structure, but there is an important difference. Pyramid schemes seek to make money from you, while multi-level marketing seeks to make money with you. The Direct Selling Education Foundation suggests that, before you sign up with a company, you ask yourself these three questions:

1) How much am I required to pay to become a distributor? An MLM company will generally charge a small start- up fee. Pyramid schemes make most of their money from signing up new distributors, so their start-up charges are often very high. These start-up fees may be called many things and you may be told they are required or are recommended purchases for training, computer services and product inventory.

2) Will the company buy back unsold inventory? Honest companies will usually buy back any products that you fail to sell. Bogus companies will stick you with the inventory.

3) Are the company's products sold to customers? Pyramid schemes gain nothing by actually selling a product and often don't sell anything at all. They focus only on gaining new investors. Be wary if you must start by buying a large amount of product. Also, take a good look at the product itself. Multi-level marketing depends on quality products that are well-priced; pyramid schemes do not. Pyramid schemes are much like chain letters; they require mathematical gymnastics that cannot possibly work. Pyramids always collapse in the end, and only a very few (usually the con artists themselves) make any money on them at all.

As with any other investment, before you commit ask questions about the company, its products, start-up fees, buy-back policies and its earnings. Take your time and investigate any information you're given. Talk to other investors and research the company. Don't act hastily!

PROS & CONS OF MLM : MLM

Copyright 2005 Judy ThompsonIn

today?s world of high-speed internet, fast-foods, and super efficiency, the home-based business market is growing by leaps and bounds. While there are many types of businesses that people can do, working from the comfort and convenience of home, this article will focus on the pros and cons of multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as network marketing.

MLM can offer a person a wonderful lifestyle. Why is it, though, that an incredibly number of people fail to find success, even after years of working hard at their businesses? I have personally seen people who are far more intelligent than me, and who have been a lot more successful in their careers than me, fail miserably at network marketing!

Perhaps, the following lists of many of the advantages and disadvantages of network marketing will help you determine whether or not you should even consider pursuing this type of home-based business.

MLM PROS ? Possible Reasons that MLM Could Be a Great Business For You!

1. Usually start-up costs are low.

2. Many of the highest-quality products are manufactured by MLM companies.

3. You can work it part time if you choose, which allows you to work a job fulltime and work your MLM business in your spare time.

4. You can work from your home.

5. Your business expenses will be deductible from your income tax.

6. You will be your own boss.

7. You choose which hours you want to work.

8. You may develop a small extra income or possibly even a very large income, allowing you to quit your job, or have a great retirement.

9. Your income will be a ?residual? income, which will come to you month-after-month, year-after-year.

10. You will have time freedom.

11. You will meet many like-minded people.

MLM CONS ? Possible Reasons that MLM Should NOT Be the Business For You!

1. At first you could work very, very hard without making any money!

2. The ease of start-up can cause people to get into several companies, with the mistaken belief that they can easily develop several income streams. This causes a lack of focus and makes the person far more likely to fail.

3. The products could be overpriced and it may be difficult to determine whether they are any better than you could purchase at a discount store.

4. People may look at what is possible to make with MLM instead of what is likely to happen. There are a lot of very inaccurate ?get-rich quick? claims out there. When success doesn?t come quickly, a person may be more likely to quit and join something else.

5. It can be very hard to distinguish a legitimate company or opportunity from a scam.

6. Many people do not seem to realize that it takes time and money to build a solid business.

7. Ideally, MLM is based on everyone doing a little bit. In reality, most people don?t do their part, making it necessary for the few workers to work much harder to find any amount of success!

8. The failure rate is extremely high.

9. As in any business, to succeed with MLM takes a lot of dedication.

10. Unlike a job where you may punch a clock or have a certain number of hours to work each day, no one is requiring you to do anything with your MLM business. YOU must be the one to decide to work it, or invest your money into advertising. It takes true self-discipline!

11. Your family and friends may not at all understand what you are trying to accomplish. Hopefully, you will get very helpful support from others, but realize that they may not support you at all, no matter how dedicated you are!

I suppose that both the PROS and the CONS list could go on and on, but perhaps, you see the picture. If you are a person who can visualize some awesome long-term goals for success, and have the dedication and self-discipline to do whatever it takes, network marketing or MLM could provide you some of the greatest benefits you can imagine. It may very well be worth extremely-hard work and sacrifices in order to realize your dreams. On the other h

4 Unfortunate Myths About Online MLM : MLM

Experts and newbies are alike in misunderstanding the way online MLM works, and under-estimating the steps involved.

2 examples of common (but untrue) MLM myths are: "An Internet Marketing Expert is an Automatic MLM expert" and "Make a Ton of Sales, And You Make a Ton Of Cash".

People fall for the same old myths about how these programs work. And these end up costing them hundreds or thousands of dollars a year in wasted time and effort.

Acquaint yourself with these 4 myths, and protect yourself from the online hype and misconceptions.

Myth #1: MLM On The Internet Can Be Wildly Profitable in One Month
The most unfortunate and damaging myth about online home business is that the income can come quickly.

It *may* be possible for a "big dog" with an established network of partners, to create a residual income of $1000 in one month. But this will never happen for the average person building from scratch.

Consider this:

The average internet MLM pays $2 - $7 per person in an organization. To earn $2000 - $7000 per month, you need 1000 people in your organization.

This is very possible to achieve. But it takes time.

Myth #2: "It?s A Ground Floor Opportunity - You Must Join Today"

When someone says: "Ground Floor Opportunity - Join Today" what are they really saying?
Is it: (1) "People who join after me have less chance of making money than I do" ? OR (2) "The company will be useless in 2 years time" ?

Would you want to take a year or two to build a good residual income, only to have that income disappear?

And what would happen to the suckers who join in 6 or 7 months time?

A good business opportunity should actually *improve* with time and exposure. It?ll be based on products (or services) - and delivering more in product value than the dollar amount people are paying for it.

(Yes it IS possible to find such companies on the internet, I know a few).

Myth #3: Make A Ton Of Sales and You Make A Ton Of Cash

The way MLM (truly) works best is if a large number of people each help each other to make a small numbers of sales.

Let me show you what I mean:

In an offline business we were in, a guy joined who was an awesome direct mail marketer. Soon he put together a masterly direct mail campaign to promote this opportunity. He invested a lot of money then unleashed his packages. In 5 weeks he had several hundred people in his downline, and was earning several thousand dollars per month.

But within two years he had dropped out of that company.

Why is this?

It?s because almost none of the people he brought in were able to do what he was able to. So he wasn?t able to help them grow their businesses. (He possibly didn?t have time to help 500 newbies). And since the monthly purchase requirement was $130 in this particular company they soon started dropping out.

The point you really ought to understand is this:

"In MLM, you don?t make much money from making sales -
You make much money from building an organization!"

This brings us nicely to the next and final myth:

Myth # 4: You Build From The Top Downwards

Many people feel that you "come in at the top", then bring people in "under you". They reflect this in their attitude to the job.

If you?re smart, you?ll know better.

You build from the bottom.

At the start, there?s no one else in your business. You just have a dream, and help from your company and upline.

Imagine you?re trying to erect a building.

You find 3 bricks and place them in your foundation. But you must physically support these from below. Yes, they?re heavy at first, but you do the job. You continue to support them.

One morning you wake up and there are now 9 bricks in your structure, from the 3 you started with.

8-Reasons MLM Distributors Fail

There dozens of reasons why any one individual might not be successful with his/her network marketing business... or any other business for that matter.

Here are a few that I can think of right off the top of my head:

NOT TREATING IT LIKE A BUSINESS...

Network marketing or MLM is just another method of distribution of a product or service. It is a "business" in every sense of the word. Many new distributors do not realize that all the same skills and dedication to effort, that are required to be successful in any business, are needed in their MLM business.

UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS...

Unfortunately, this industry has the reputation of making it sound too easy. Distributors, in their eagerness to build "any" type of organization, paint too rosy a picture to convince a prospective distributor to come aboard. This is a disservice to the industry, the recruiting distributor, and to the prospect. Experienced and successful distributors do a lot of "sifting & sorting" to find the right prospects for their organization. They require that the prospect jump through a lot of qualifying hoops to become part of the team.

NOT BEING TRAINABLE...

If you cannot, or will not, take coaching and instruction then MLM is not for you. Surprisingly, those with strong professional selling skills are often the worst choice you can make for potential team member. They often think they must "re-invent the wheel" to conform with their selling experience. Your successful upline "knows" how to work your business. Follow their lead and duplicate the already successful system.

POOR CHOICE OF UPLINE...

Your choice of your upline sponsor is critical to your success. Most new distributors give little or no attention to this important detail. If you sponsor is not a good trainer, or is not willing to implement the systems necessary to support YOU... then you have the wrong sponsor. Your sponsor, in the truest sense of the phrase, is your "partner in success". A bad one can stifle your success... a good one can skyrocket your profits and greatly shorten our learning and selling cycle.

If you have a sponsor who is not serving your needs then work upline until you find someone who will give you the support you need...and have every right to expect.

POOR CHOICE OF COMPANY/PRODUCT...

Always look at the product first. If you would Not "willingly" buy the product and enjoy it's benefits... why do you think anyone else would? Marry the product with your own interests and needs. If you are interested in wellness, health & fitness, etc. then select a company who has a leadership position in these product lines. Don't try to sell something you can't get enthusiastic about... and which does not fill a proven need in the marketplace. Never mistake the "comp plan" for the opportunity... the opportunity is in the product. The most lucrative pay plan in the world will not pay you a dime if you cannot sell the product... and the customers do not willingly re-order.

NOT DEALING WITH CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS/SERVICES...

Your success or failure with any MLM will be greatly determined by the "consumability" of the product. If the product is a "one-time" purchase the success of the MLM model is doubtful. Residual income depends on the consumability of the product.

YOUR OWN LACK OF DISCIPLINE & PATIENCE...

No business becomes successful instantly. MLM is no different. You should become involved with any MLM only if you are willing and able to commit a minimum of one year of hard work to the building process.

YOUR UNWILLINGNESS TO COMMIT MONEY & TIME TO BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS...

Building any business requires a certain commitment of time and money to succeed. You must make available a minimum number of hours per week to "work" the business... and you must be willing to invest the money necessary for advertising, supplies, lead generation, etc. MLM is NOT a get-rich scheme, despite the wild claims made by some. Network marketing IS a business that requires the same level of dedication that getting to the top of
